brief:
For this urban project for a young family, we designed a planting that formed screening and created more privacy in a patio area.
The outdoor space of this newly built property also consisted of a gravel area, that we thoughtfully enhanced with planting. For this area we selected plants that will withstand the free draining, poor soil conditions of this site.
To create the privacy our clients desired, we positioned four big planters along the fencing of this property, that together with evergreen and deciduous shrubs and trees formed a very sophisticated screen.
To complement tall shrubs and trees that formed main element of this screen planting, a number of perennials, tall ornamental grasses, as well as herbs were inserted between the shrubs.
The selected perennials are designed to provide seasonal interest, making this planting design an ever-changing display of colours and forms, as well as allowing for some florals to be cut for a vase display. Moreover, the herbs will be used in the kitchen.
This project is a great example of what can be achieved in a restricted space, proving, that it is possible to create a beautiful green oasis in a small urban spot.
