process
step one: initial conversation
We understand that every garden and client is different, and therefore a good starting point for us is to meet you in person and see your garden.
It is very important for us to gain a clear understanding of your needs and lifestyle, as well as to know ideas that you have for your garden space. This meeting also provides a good opportunity to have an initial chat about the budget for your garden project.
After our first meeting we will send you our introductory thoughts and ideas for your garden.
This will include planting design mood-boards, some sketches, initial plants selection as well as suggestions and inspirations for the layout of hardscape elements.
We will also give you a rough idea about the cost of the planting design service that we will charge to deliver your garden project.
step two: hardscape elements
A key philosophy behind our approach is to encourage clients to think about improvements to their garden, which have as small an impact on the environment as possible. We advise our clients to have less hardscape elements and to think about creating spaces that have more plants and encourage wildlife.
If new or evolved hardscapes are needed to complement our planting design work, we will put you in touch with a trusted contractor, who will work with us and help you with all the details.
The contractor will be able to provide you with a separate quote for the hardscape layout.
To make the design of the hardscape coherent with the planting and the overall feel of the garden, we will assist with the selection of materials, colours and textures.
Once the hardscape elements are in place, we will focus on creating a bespoke planting design for your garden space.
step three: final documents
We will create a final planting design for your garden, which will include a detailed plant selection for specific areas of your garden, as well as visuals, that will show seasonality, colours and textures of selected plants.
If you wish, we will also create a planting plan, that will make it easier to visualise the positioning of plants in your garden. This plan will also help you or a contractor ensure that the plants in your garden are planted in the right place.
step four: purchase of plants and planting
As with our full planting design service, we can assist you by purchasing all the plants needed for your garden design project.
Given our relationships with many plant nurseries, we are able to source plants at a very competitive prices, which we pass on to our clients with no mark up.
We also offer planting supervision, which includes positioning and planting of plants in your garden.
I moved into a new build with an expanse of raw green turf. Kornelia has transformed this into a colourful and interesting garden - something I could never have achieved. There are shapes and colours and perfumes that provide interest all year round, and the place is a bee heaven.
